Muppets Bass player...

One of my great influences, the bass player in the Muppets house band..I think that was a jazz he played. Does anyone know his name?

He could play right or left handed and actually (don't flame me for this) started slapping before Larry Graham ever thought of it. I would take a bullet for the man.

As a huge fan of Floyd (I am trying desperately and unsuccessfully to find a shirt with him playing on it) and a self professed Muppet connoisseur (but then, I also think I am extremely funny...) I am going to have to call you on that and ask for an example of Floyd playing righty... The only place I have seen him righty were in pictures that I THINK were reversed. Most of the Muppets played lefty, with a few exceptions: Rowlf the dog, and Fozzy, for example. The truth is, the "rod" hand puppets were mostly left handed because the puppeteers could work the hands better that way, while the "hands in glove" hand puppets like Fozzy & Rowlf were rightys.

Early in Floyd's career, Alan Spenner was the music behind Floyd's bass. after 1991, several players have filled in. Guy Pratt and Jack Casady have both gotten Floyd's groove on.

Awesome! For those who don't know, Spenner was the bassist for the Grease Band, who backed up Joe Cocker at Woodstock, and a while before. The Woodstock "Help from My Friends" video is on YouTube. Beautiful bass playing on that tune. Spenner is a great player. Very melodic.

Except he used a P bass is all I've seen or heard of him. And Floyd appears to play a J. Do we have a fantasy/reality mismatch there? Or did Spenner see the light and convert to a J?
