Gimme Danger - Stooges movie from director Jim Jarmusch
That was depressing! But definitely worth watching. Thanks for posting it!
Beyond the Lighted Stage is fantastic - those guys are so wholesome! Loved the interviews, they almost made Sebastian Bach and Gene Simons likeable....almost.It's funny about the Rush one, Beyond the Lighted Stage; I remember seeing it and feeling refreshed by how it WASN'T your typical rocknroll story of drug abuse and addiction. Nary a drug reference in the whole thing. Then shortly after seeing it I read some interviews with Alex and he's talking about how wasted they were on LSD during such-and-such an album. It's a really well-crafted documentary - too well crafted, very much to curate that band's image as their fan base aged and became responsible adults.
+100 to mentions already made of Standing in the Shadows of Motown and 20 Feet from Stardom.
Two that I don't think I've seen mentioned on the thread yet - great documentaries about bands that didn't fully take off as hoped, Fishbone and Anvil.

SMS is a performance film, not a documentary.Stop making sense (Talking Heads) is a classic. I just watched on a plane George Michael “freedom uncut”. You forget what an amazing singer and performer he was! Beware of Mr. Baker (Ginger Baker). Yep, crazy man worth the watch.
So many good ones shared already but here are a couple more.
Hired Gun.
Runnin’ Down a Dream: The Tom Petty Story.
I'm not at all a fan of the music of Rush, but I watched this and Time Stands Still (about the last tour) and was very entertained.Fav - Rush Beyond the lighted stage
