I've been active on EBMMs official forum for a few years now, but i think this doesn't quite belong there. And i think there might be more people interested in this Topic on this Forum.
We had a thread over on the Music Man Forum about each's Dream Bass, and we came up with a Fanned Fret, Triplebucker + Singlecoil Bongo.
Now the Idea with the Triplebucker came up, because the Bongo HH and HS use a different Bridge Pickup Position than their Stingray Basses, and the new Triplebucker would cover both the original Bongo Position and give you the Option of a 5 way Switch for switching to the inner coils to get more of a stingray sound.
While the Fanned Frets are something I'm likely not going to do myself, I was thinking about either getting another used Bongo 5HS or HH and atleast try the Triplebucker and Coil switching, or build a new body for my Bongo and install the electronics in that.
I've disassembled my Bongo 5HH to take a look at the Pickups, now my question for anybody that is interested in this. Did anyone try to replace their Bongo's pickups and has some more info on them? Because all i know is that they're neodymium magnets and the measured dc resistance.
I was thinking about getting the Pickup custom wound, but i'd have to know the specs to get that right. I also don't have a clue about the Bongo Singlecoil.
Is it a Split Pickup so it's still humbucking?
