I know when I bought my StingRay5 in 2007, it was not cheap!
What's your neck size and sleeve length?
For folks ordering an HH model, it would be cool if you had the option of regular HH modes, or Sabre HH modes.
No, I already inquired about this. So you may get the 7.8 pounder or you may get the 9.7 pounder. Real crapshoot.
They're not accurate at all. When I was thinking of going with the Magma Pearl, to be sure I had them send me a pic of the real deal and it looked NOTHING like what the computer generated one looked like.

Of course any finish displayed on a computer monitor is not going to be 100% how it would look in person but I do think that gives a better idea of what the colours would look like. Based on my experience, the Seafoam Sparkle swatch in the above link looks A LOT more like the actual colour compared to the Custom Experience Designer version of the same colour.

But EBMM said on their forum that Special was outselling Classic 40 to 1 [why discontinued and they brought out Retro] so I am guessing that sales ratio is similar Special VS Retro
So makes sense to work custom design around Special Features and have Retro if you want 50 yr old design stuff
Then again in the Future if they feel it is viable for their business profitability they may include mixing old and new
From what the initial release said, they did make it sound like they plan on expanding the options at some point in the future. Whether that is more pick up configurations (HS for example), preamp options, or just more colours remains to be seen but I wouldn't outright dismiss the lack of options just yet as it is pretty early on in the existence of this iteration of the design experience.
I do recall years ago they had a similar configurator that did allow you to choose between different preamps and pickups so maybe that will still come.
The golden delicious pearl looks drab, highly saturated and just plain ugly on their swatch. But, when you configure it--essentially another swatch and on the same computer screen--I think it is the most awesomest color. I cannot see pearl in either one, though.
Unless I was getting a solid black or white bass, I would not drop coin on one of the new colors. I wish we could buy swatches from them. That I would gladly do.

What are the odds they would build me this diesel blue but without the burst? You would think they would be happy to omit that step...but something tells me it's gonna be a hard "NO". Oh well, all they can do is tell me no.

You're right about being able to see the metallic/pearl better.
Still would not spend the money without being able to see a swatch in hand or an actual instrument already built in that color.
