The USA models, I'm sorry to say, are far too much money now. A regular Stingray 4HH is $4,800Canadian incl taxes ! Twenty years ago they were ~ $1500

Yep it's crazy. They were 800 less like TWO years ago, forget ten.
Yup. Glad I bought mine when I did. But a lot has changed in the last 2 years so I'm not surprised at all that the increase has been that much.
Which is not a relevant time frame because this product didn't exist. A 5 year time frame is very relevant though, and in that time price hikes from Fender and Music Man have been absolutely abusive/obnoxious.
i was trying to get a stingray 4hh or a bongo 4hh earlier in the winter, but i ended up getting a barely used and kinda heavy L2000
the ernie ball prices were just insane, the only one i could afford was an old turquoise one with a pretty grody neck and medium action

What is the likelihood tariffs could be placed on Indonesia? Or is it a safe bet that won't happen?

@shojii is saying that this will hedge against other countries jacking up tariffs on the US. By shipping from Indonesia to let's say France, the instruments are subject to the tariffs between those Indonesia and France, not between the US and France.

The more pertinent point is that prices have increased 200% while wages have increased under 40% in twenty years.
There is a significant number of people who won't purchase items from China due to politics
I would purchase a used StingRay Special or pre Special era StingRay over one of these. But that's just me.
