Up for sale, is this beautiful Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 Special HH, in Smoked Chrome finish. Comes with a roasted maple neck, ebony fretboard, and black hardware. I purchased it a few months back, and had my tech replace the pickguard, as the original one was a tad scuffed from the original owner. It is a true Ernie Ball OEM pickguard (not a cheaper Amazon, etc. replacement), and can provide the receipt for such if needed. I’ve left the plastic on it for the new owner. The original OEM pickguard will also be included, should you want it for whatever reason.
The bass is a solid 9.5/10 except for one nickel-sized ding on the lower body curve of the bass, that occurred when I stood up too fast from my desk when practicing and it hit my keyboard tray. In even medium light it’s hard to see, but I’ve tried to photograph it the best I can. Otherwise there are little to no finish scratches, and the sparkle finish covers up the teeny-tiny ones, if you can even find some! It would be 9.9/10 without the small ding.
I absolutely love this bass, with the upgrades and updates on the “Special” series, like the lighter weight body, hardware, 18V preamp and newly voiced pickups.
I purchased this on Talkbass earlier this year from the original owner when I got on a buying spree of 4-5 basses within a few months to test some things out. It’s been my ‘main’ practice-at-home bass, and seen 2 home rehearsals, never gigged by me. I had a new set of Kalium strings installed and the bass professionally set up in late June, and 2x 9V batteries replaced the middle of August, so it’s all fresh and ready to go!
I am only selling this because I stumbled, by accident, across a Lull M5 that was available locally, and I couldn’t pass it up, so this needs a new home and deserves to be someone’s “Number One”. Having had a few SR5s in the past, I really prefer these Specials, just IMO/IME. They’re an excellent refresh and revamp to an already proven product. You will love it!
Comes with the original HSC (which is a friggin’ tank!) and ‘case candy’ with soft bag. Feel free to PM with any questions. Asking $2100 shipped from Texas. Unfortunately, no trades at this time, as I’m all set with my current lineup. More pictures of anything are available upon request!
