Music Producing

Hey Justin, How have you been? Hope you had a good start to the new year :). My question is :

As a seasoned producer, You must be getting few offers from various acts to produce their record. How do you choose which offers to take up? What do you look for in a band, that you will like to produce? Would you take up offers from a band that isnt backed by a label & doesn't have much money & might involve pro-bono work, if you dig the bands music?

Hope Your Well & Happy New Year :)

Hello there Rahul,

Well, I'm not a seasoned producer per se. I've only made about half a dozen records so far, so I'd say I'm still learning my craft and getting my basics together, though I'm sure most self-aware "seasoned" producers would say that they are always learning.

Anyway, I choose artists that will be not only musically interesting but also able to get something useful out of me. Yes, I've done things for little or no money before, so the finances are not the primary concern.
