Hey to all my BEADG friends! Have you ever walked into a music store and there is nothing you want to play? I'm 71 and set in my ways. My HH is the best bass on the planet IMO! I string it with Elixir 14202 strings and just love this bass! it's heavy, is my only complaint (so I'm whining). I don't own a "normal" bass. I have a 1976 Fender Fretless Precision, a MM short scale and I just got a Journeyman U-Bass! What a FUN little bass.
I'm an old rocker from the late 70's early 80's (and yes, my hearing is shot!) and played with ALBION around the Denver area. I'm not really into Jazz, some Big Band songs are fun. I'm not much of a slap fan. Maybe if I can get somebody in the area to show me some slap I may enjoy it. enough of my rant....GBYD Grandpa Bob

Here's one you'll love! When someone give you the business about playing an "easy Instrument" asked them how many notes are on a Piano (88) and your bass has 110 plus 5 open notes.......While a Guitar player strums G C D, how many notes do you play? And we have so much more fun playing up and down the neck instead of staying in that little 3 fret box! so let's keep this our secret. we still need guitar players and keyboards. GBYD

Just ask my wife how set in my ways I am when she walks in with duster and cleaning cloths in hand and heads for my guitar collection, then she has to get passed me to get to them..never happens..give me the duster honey and go sit down I say..I know how to do this without scratching the enamel off my axes and your fingernails loll

I'm 72 in May and even though she is a tad heavy at 10.2lbs, she still weighs less than my Peavey T-40 loll
I love this EBMM HHSR5 and would never ever swap or sell her. Its a great bass guitar with a myriad of tones.

ok back to bass stuff: thanks for the encouragement! like I said "I'm Whining"! I love my EBMM SR5HH however, everything I owns is for sale so if someone offered me 10 grand for it, I'd let it go <snic,snic. and only if they can play it and play it better than me. I don't think she's going anywhere (Hey, hey...)
Yes they are heavy. what I did to make it a little more comfortable is I search for a really wide Bass Guitar Strap and this is what I came up with. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Being a retired Lead Design Supervisor I really like the quality and comfort of this strap. the length adjustment, pick holders are a plus. I'm wearing it in my postage stamp picture. These straps are made in Spain! I wonder if the leather came from a brave bull?

Yep, never let her go! Wish EB would build one like it with a rosewood finger board. I'm not into the Dark stuff they are offering right now, and I don't care for the gold or black hdwr. But to each their own. I like that diagram you posted. EB was thinking when they made that setup. EQ knobs: Bass at the bottom, Mid in the middle, and treble at the top then volume. Switch position Neck, throw switch toward neck, bridge throw switch toward bridge and the other combos are not hard to figure out. 4 Active pickups! WOW! and now they make it 18v! Other guitar and bass makers should take note!
I don't have to think about what tone position I want. Let's see, solo 8 bars, I need that Geddy Lee treble sound, throw switch toward bridge, Done! Don't need to think about it!
So I see you're in the Fretless Club. Got a picture??

The fretless bass I own is an Aussie made Maton JBIV Fretless Pro (JBIV = Jumbuck IV)

Hey Giffro,
Love the Aussie Fretless! I noticed the DI plug! Cool! Fretless necks should all look like that. No markings nothing but clean.
Here's a Shot of me in about 1980 when I played with ALBION at Sam's on Lookout Mountain with my 1976 Fender Fretless.
I call her "Spirit of 76" that was the big centennial, Bi-centennial that year.

Still got her!
Sure she's for sale! $20,000, your first born and your dog! First born must know how to take out the trash and the dog must have all 4 legs. And of course, buyer must play it better than me.
the Acoustic 136 I sold and replaced with a Hartke KB15.
