If there's been discussions, photoshops, or custom builds, I haven't seen them.

Dream rant:

I think it'd be neat if Fender did a run of them with one 'stang pickup, as well as a run with double 'stang pickups. Of course they'd have to run up the R&D bill on making a longer BEA side coil and normal size DG coil that'd play nice together.

But, if they managed to work whatever magic they did in the Hwy1 & RW necks into an SS 4+1 neck with tiny mandolin frets and got the electronics right, that would be a sweet, gentle little thumper.

Matching headstocks, paints including a light Tarmac Grey with ebonized Pau FB + tort, heavily yellowed Oly White + mint... they would probably sell a ton in CAR red and CAR blue, and more in CAR green than in Tarmac, but I would be obligated to abstain from pizza for a few months to buy one each of the first two, both with double pickups. One for rounds and the other for flats.

Last second thought- brass hardware and gold script on the Grey bass. Thin gold script on all of them, really.
