    Hello guys!

I have a Mustang which I want to put a Novak BS-DS into, and I am unsure about pole/string spacing.

String spacing measured at where the pickup will sit is about 16mm. Measured at the bridge, 17mm.

The BS-DS has three options for string spacing: 15.6mm, 17.4mm and 19mm.

Yesterday I placed an order for a BS-DS with 17.4mm spacing, based on string spacing at the bridge (I know, my bad). 15.6mm is obviously closer to the actual string spacing where the pickup will sit.

As far as I can calculate, the E and G strings will be ~1.2 mm 'off center'.

How much does this really matter? Do any of you have experience with this?

    You’ll be fine.

Each pole of the BS-DS is individually height-adjustable anyways.

  3. while aesthetically it may not be perfect and those with OCD might get twitchy, it will work just fine

Thank you. What is that neck pickup on your bass there?

I will be twitching for sure, but good to know it will not cause issues soundwise.

It's a Sentell Unmudbucker. An unbelievably great-sounding, unique, and relatively inexpensive pickup!
