You can do a preset reset by holding down the footswitch and preset button for 5 seconds.
I think I'm right in saying, that If you do this in live-mode (no preset selected), it resets all the settings (including secondary ones) to their DEFAULTS (apart from the global settings, like tracking mode).
So, when it comes to making a new sound, I always do a "live-mode reset", and set all the primary knobs to 0% (fully CCW), so I know I'm starting from a "blank slate".
This way, if you want to share favourite settings, you can include ONLY the settings you adjust after starting from the above "blank slate".
It's also useful to know the default knob positions of the secondary functions too, some of which are shown in the MXR Video manual (and others are obvious). The only one I can't find is the Filter Env Amount (does anyone know it?)
Voice + Mix = Voice Mix
Default = 12 o clock
Voice + Submix = Noise Mix
Default = Fully CCW (0%)
Voice + Cutoff = Filter Env Amount
Default = Unknown (probably somewhere between 1:00 and 3:00 ?)
Voice + Resonance = Glide
Default = Fully CCW (0%)
Voice + Envelope = Amp Env
Default = Fully CCW (0%)
Voice + Mod = Mod Blend
Default = Fully CCW (0%)
Shape + Mix = Compression
Default = 12 o clock (although, compression can be to taste).
Shape + Envelope = Dry Thru FX
Default = Fully CW (enabled)
(The rest of the 2ndry functions aren't relevant to the sound).
For example, here is one I'm playing with... just a simple bass guitar dance type tone.
So, starting from a "blank slate" (live mode preset reset, and all primary knobs fully CCW):
Shape = Triangle
Mix = 100%
Cutoff = 11 o clock
Resonance = 10 o clock
Envelope = 8 o clock
(the rest of the knobs stay fully CCW (and no secondary settings touched)).
Not very spectacular lol.
