MXR M80 Bass DI + (Distortion Mods?)

And add a speaker sim. What's the use for a DI with distortion and no speaker sim? About the color switch being always on on the distortion channel, I read somewhere in TB that there's no wayt o mod that. I don't know why I haven't sold mine yet...
I just never use the distortion part nor the color switch, it's absolutely useless.
The pedal itself makes an excellent choice for direct connection to my headphone system, with the EQ I can
make it sound like an amp.

The goal of this distorsion isn't to be used like a standalone pedal.
Rather, it gives a very gritty, agressive distorsion with a lot of overtones that sits perfectly in a mix and can get you through barriers of heavy guitars if required.
Used this way, it is an excellent tool. Not a beautiful sound in itself but it works within a band.

I would like to see a mod to smooth it a little but like Jazz Ad said, it is designed to cut through heavy guitars, it's aimed at hard rock and metal players.
It's not a Sansamp and is not trying to be so this might not be for everyone.
The colour switch being on for the distortion is a little inconvenient but you can always boost the mids (both centered around 800hz).

The B3's emulation of the M80 actually allows you to disengage the Color button when using the distortion side, and it's one of my favorite drive sounds from the Zoom.
