same here... a good buffered bypass is much nicer then true bypass.. true bypass can still have the tendency to pop

Why would you need TBP? Are you using the M-80 solely as an 'effect' rather than a preamp + DI?

I use it for the distortion only. It isn't on all the time. I'm just looking to get the most out of my sound. Don't want anything clouding it up. My signal runs through the m80, a usa bassballs, and a boss dd-5.

do you hear a difference in your sound when your m80 is off compared to when its not connected at all?

i dont know anyone. including myself that thinks the bypass on the m80 is bad or sucks tone at all

You're worrying about the wrong pedal, IMO. The only pedal that'll do anything noticeable to your signal is the buffered bypass of the Boss DD-5!

Even then, it's a relatively minor (IMO, virtually insignificant) issue. Just ask anyone who uses a DD-5!

I also use the M80 like this for small gigs and rehearsals. I like what I hear from just my bass and amp so don't want to mess with it. I just use the distortion in these but when I DI I do use the preamp also.

Having said that I've had no problems with the bypass and think it's fine.
