MXR M87 compressor

Just got this pedal brand new.

I was wondering about settings.

Passive bass (Fender Jazz V) through a GK stack. Legacy head with dual 410 cabs.

I also have a passive/active bass. Lull M5V with Bart pre.

Anybody using a MXR M87 compressor? Perhaps with a set up similar to mine?
What kind of settings are to using?

For my passive Fender P, I have to turn the input (threshold type control) to about 3 o'clock otherwise no GR happens. Also have to be careful of not too much release otherwise weird sustain happens. Mine is at 11 o'clock.

I have attack fully CCW and the second highest ratio.

YMMV, of course.

Not easy to give prescribed recommendations, depends on playing style, goals, gear...

I used the M87 when I was doing more shreddy playing, especially for fast tapping sections. Very slow attack and very fast release worked wonders for crystal clear articulation, making the tapped notes jump out at first and then die quickly (something I could never achieve with the Keeley Bassist later).

When slapping I leave both near noon so everything's more consistent and nothing stands out too much.

There was nothing interesting about the input knob as far as I remember. Passive bass, high input. Active bass, noon-ish. And you hit the threshold reasonably.
