MXR vs DarkGlass

Hey Justin, have you used the MXR Bass Overdrive at all?

I'm torn between it and the Darkglass B3K.

I'm looking for an overdrive with a clean blend and I know a lot of guys are raving about the Darkglass stuff but I dunno if its worth the extra moneys over the MXR.

I haven't done a comparison. In fact, the MXR in its last iteration that I heard about a year ago, I was not into at all.

I didn't like the MRX when I tried it either. There are definitely other options in that price range with more mojo.

I had MXR and i did not like it much because it is colored the tone too much despite it is color-button been on or off,plus it is distortion is useless.Get the Darkglass - way better.

I like MXR and have some of their stuff - Flanger, Micro Chorus, CAE Buffer and DC Brick (older one). But i have got B7K - it is so much better for evil drive even almost clean ( a bit of grit)

Are you talking about the M80 ? When the over drive is engaged the color is on even if the button is off. I used one when I was using GK amps. I would run the Over drive channel on with the blend way down

M80 i have had in the past. Its distortion was weak and soapy, i have used it as a second preamp for back line. And the plastic battery cover on the back - it was totally broken after week of using the device.

i have an older MXR (the DI version) and I like it for milder distorsion/overdrive, goes well with my Pbass into an SVT and 420 HLF. For heavier distorsions I would look elsewhere.
