MXTabs down for good...

i don't understand why all these tab sites are going down, is there some sort of legal action taking place or are these sites just not raking in enough funds?

Yes, music publishers are threatening legal action over copyright infringement.
A century ago, music publishers made the bulk of their income from sheet music sales!
That changed with the emergence of the broadcast and recorded music industries, and the declining demand for sheet music.

The internet really took a bite out of sheet music sales and the publishers want to stop this.

It is unfortunate that musicians are unable to share their own transcription work with others as they are usually more accurate and comprehensive than what music publishers sell.

As publishers have lost the war against recorded music distribution of MP3 on the internet, I question why they would waste their efforts on the same war.

A Shame !

I must admit, a few months ago I was overwhelmed having to learn 48 songs for a cover band in 3 weeks and a couple of days, and tabs really helped get all that info into my head, for the most part. I have good ears, but just couldn't spend 5 hours a day picking out all those parts (must need more Ginko Biloba) and it made it easier to get the RIGHT parts down, as some tabs are occasionally off.

when the site was shut down the first time, it could be accesed this way...or atleast you could..it doesn't work anymore...for example....go to yahoo.com and type mxtabs incubus bass tabs....some link will pop out...then click on cached....after that the page will load...the every song will appear like it used to...then right click and copy the link and go back to yahoo.com....and paste it in the search bar....when the link appears click on cached...and the tab will appear...

Hehe, same boat.. I just learned roughly 40 songs in about 8 days (joined a band on a Thursday, the Saturday a week later I was at a 3+ hour gig). Thank jebus I work from home and could practice as much as required :>

I don't use tabs though.. never could understand them. I've been picking parts out by ear for probably 15-20 years so it's not hard, but keeping everything sorted definitely became tough.
