My band's EP is up on Spotify! I recorded it with a combination of Presonus Firestudio and Tascam US 16x08 interfaces depending on the location. Recorded in a combination of rehearsal spaces and basements (SE reflexion filters were used frequently). Mic pres included 2 channels of Fredenstein Artistic and 4 channels of Shiny Box si4, with the pres on the interfaces doing the rest. Light compression was used during tracking where possible. I have 2 Fredenstein Artistic Compressors and 2 FMR RNCs. Bass was recorded direct through a JDI into the Shiny Box si4. Drum mics were a Shure Beta 52 on the kick, SM7b on the snare, overheads / room mics were a combination of SE electronics SE1a in XY overhead, and Shure KSM32 in a spaced pair. Toms are electronic (they are used infrequently and the drummer and i hadn't perfected the "a few cotton balls inside the shell to dampen the bottom head" technique yet). Vocals recorded on the KSM32, guitar cab mic'd with an SM7b and the shiny box 46mxv about 1 foot from the cab, sax recorded on the shiny box ribbon, bone on the KSM32. Keys went direct through the Fredenstein pre/DI. Mixed in Reaper. Secret sauce reverbs are from the Valhalla Vintage Verb (best $50 you'll ever spend). Most other plugins used were waves renaissance series, and some good 1176 and LA-2A simulators.
