My Bass/Help me...!

My other poll got little to no attention; so lets try this again, a little tweaked. I have like $150 and want to play bass. I currently play a little guitar, but my band needs a bassist, and I want to try. I plan to play the bass that I purchase a lot, and get really good... haha (don't we all!)

I need help from talk bass, so here it is... my 2 choices. In no particular order...
(By the way, if you'd like to confuse me more, you can suggest something, just please keep it at $250 or below. Thanks, and I appreciate any help...

The Vintage Modified is the best you listed.

Why only P basses?

What ever you do don't go with the last of the three.

If I were to chose I would go with the second choice. I hear they are amazing for the price. Just a wait a while, tons of people on TB have them and surely they will help you out.;)

The new Squier stuff is really impressive for the price point. I'd avoid the Affinity though and drop the 250 on one of the regular Squiers.

I regularly play basses worth north of 2K, and yesterday I picked up 2 of the new Squiers that I would seriously consider some of the best production line basses I've played in terms of their feel.

I have one of the VM fretless jazzes and for the price it does a nice job, but I would say if your not sure if you'll be sticking to bass, save yourself some pesos...my son (a drummer :hmm:), wanted to try his hand at four strings, so I picked up one of these:

Best $120 bucks I think I spent...necks a bit chunky for me but the thing plays great.
