Double Bass My bow

Hey, this is my bow. Do i need new hair on my bow?

I have to rosin the bow very quick. I use an medium Pirastro bass rosin.

Or can the hair been cleaned easely. I think the bow does'nt have a good grip on the strings

It is hard to tell, but it looks like your ribbon is fairly full and in good shape. Are those grease spots, gunk or just discoloration? Whatever you do, be careful with solvents that might get the grease or gunk out so that you don't affect the stick.

I think you could wash it just like regular hair, or just use a toothbrush to remove excess rosin. Ther is a chance of your pirastro cake being too dry and powdery, if so, try some fresher rosin, you're probably gonna like kolstein or carlsson. My pirastro cake wasn't very new and didn't grip well nor stayed on the hair so might be yours

How long since your last rehair? How often do you play? If it isn't grabbing the string, it may be time to get it redone. I play a lot and have tried cleaning the hair to get a few more miles out of it. In my experience, a rehair is generally the better way to go.
