I happen to be a huge Bon Jovi fan, and truly feel Hugh McDonald is the best bass player in rock. I'm just a really big fan...
Sadowsky has sold a couple of his basses before, and I had always hoped to see another one for sale.
So I get the Sadowsky site update email.. I'm like cool.. lets go see whats new.. not that I would buy one now anyway.. just to browse.
What do I see? Hugh McDonalds Vintage P/J 5 string for sale! And its the one he used to record the latest album and tour all of the US and the world!
Funny thing is.. If I were to order a Sadowsky NYC it would be a
Vintage Jazz 5 with a maple board. No exeption.. Hugh plays rosewood boards. And this is a P-body, I'd never get that.. I'd get a Jazz.
However, It took me all but maybe 4 seconds to pick up the phone, call Kevin at Sadowsky, and reserve this baby. And right now, this is the most beautiful bass I've ever seen!
Kevin said they are still waiting for Hugh to mail in the Tort guard.
I asked Kevin if it could be arranged for Hugh to sign the back of the headstock before it shipped out, and he said only if Hugh stopped by.. that would be perfect. I personally don't mind if they keep the bass there til he shows up.
As you can tell I'm purty excited.
Funny thing is, I just recieved Valenti #023 yesterday from another TBer. I have a feeling I will sell it shortly. It's a great bass, but I just some nice change on a Sadowsky NYC!
I also have a feeling this bass was made specifically for Hugh.. the 2 previous Hugh basses sold by Sadowsky, has this style of string retainers on them, but had the screwholes for the regular style string retainer, while this one has to signs of the regular style retainers.
