My DTR-1000 jumpy when in fx loop

Hi

I run my bass into the head. Then in the loop I got a DTR-1000 followed by a compressor. That's it. Nothing else.

When I tune the DTR is jumpy and seems like it's picking up noise.
If I plug the bass right into the DTR everything's nice and smooth.

Why? Any ideas?
My first thought was that the DTR requires a mic-level signal but gets a line level in the loop instead but can't find any info if the input/output is line or mic.

I think your suspicions are correct. The DTR does not expect mic-level signals, but hiZ guitar level signals. You are likely giving it a line-level, or something else through the loop. That is my guess.

It is most likely designed to be used in front of the amp, rather than in the loop. Most stomp boxes are.

It's the rack tuner.

SnorLars, I have a DTR-1000 as well, but run a cable from a volume pedal to the tuner. I'll try and drag it out tonight and hook it up through the effects loop on one of my amps to see if it gets jumpy as well.

Found this in the search - anyone find out why it does this? I run my through the effects loop and it does the same - going to try to hook it up straight through the input and try it.

I have the DTR-2000 plugged in front of the amp and there is no difference in sound at all.

a rack tuner would plug in from a "tuner out" if you have one, otherwise, in the front of the amp.
