My gig

My last gig with a live audience was many years ago. I was in high school and we played stranglehold - dazed and confused - and the immigrant song -- over and over. Now I am older - mentally regressing and progressing at the same time. I am currently taking lessons and am amazed at how little I knew about playing the bass. My left hand - although semi functional - was an absolute mess. Now I am a much better musician than I ever was in my rock star glory years. I still remember the band sitting in our drummers dad's Cadillac (he was a mortician) and discussing what we would do with our millions. Although it didn't quite work out the way we planned - I can't complain. My gig now is usually after dinner with my wife - maybe a good pint or two, or an iced coffee. I work my way through my growing collection (yes I have GAS) enjoying the differences in the guitars and the strings. I always end up with the wonderful thin neck of the GL Jazz. The baseball game is muted on the TV as my fingers get sore and my mind slips into its happy place. I'm not a rock star - but that's my gig - and it's pretty good!
