My HORRIBLE Alleva-Coppolo experience...

Our legal system is built upon fairness and everyone gets their say. You can sue him for a refund but it might not be worth the costs of courts and lawyers.
The bass is horrible.
So are "Mob Rules" (GREAT album tho!).
Continue up the mountain if you must- Lynch mobs bring out the worst people, and the worst IN people.

All of a sudden the guy makes a mistake and everyone is reaching for tar and feathers.
Lets see what the company owner offers in way of resolution...
(from another small business owner who wishes people would try the owner before rushing to the tar and feather mart...) Tarred and feathered? No. Superglued and feathered? Yes

Please, you're telling me the builder and seller of a 5K bass doesn't personally inspect his bass if for only one minute, before he packs and ships it?

I do agree that the owner should have his say in this but he brought this on himself, if not at least for the obvious mistakes when building it...

Wow! This thread is about four hours old and we're already on page #6. This is why I'm so very, very careful about the builders that I purchase from. Rob Elrick, Chris Stambaugh, and Ken Lawrence comprise my little circle of guys I trust. I can assure you that this is one of the most difficult circles on the planet to break into. So sorry for the OP's troubles. :(

No dog in this fight, obviously, but I have dealt with Chris on numerous occasions and have always found him to be one of those customers that is just a pleasure to do business with.

This thread makes my skin crawl. I hope it is resolved I'm the right way, no company can lose face on talkbass and not suffer a great blow in business. Its crazy to think how much power our little message board has.

I will never order an AC bass due to this thread-
I hope the story has a happy ending - as in full refund or a totally new instrument for the owner. I'd even consider legal action if he doesn't resolve this with you.
Best wishes

Wow I have yet to own an AC ( and depending on how this story ends I may never) but the reputation was always great! I have been fortunate to own many boutique basses Ken Smiths, Sadowskys, Brubaker, Pedulla, Alembic, MTD etc. I have never had a bass that had these kinds of issues. The cutout blows me away... How can that possibly pass inspection and be considered "minor play wear" some of the basses I have owned I have parted with for reasons from weight to playability but NONE of them had issues like the one the OP is dealing with.

This is simply tragic when someone with his reputation does this. This could severely harm his career. It's almost impossible to believe that someone would sell this with THEIR NAME on it.

I hope you get your money back and he gets his "flawed" bass back. I genuinely feel bad that you have to go through this.

Whoa. Great timing. Just convinced church to buy a AC bass since we have great storage for security and needed to replace current. I was going to buy myself one as well THIS week. I'll be talking to Mike Tobias or Roger Sadowsky this week. Maybe Nino Valenti. Seems like that guy is the epitomy of great customer service. In awe.....at those price points customer service should the best in the industry. However, still waiting to hear Jimmy's side in this thread.
