Hang around TB and before you know it you will be up on all the latest and greatest gear. Ive been playing for 25 years and when I was younger, I knew how to play well but knew nothing about gear. I couldnt afford anything so there was no need. Since I started playing again 3-4 years ago, Ive learned so much from TB about gear.

BTW, I too, thought the Minimark was pretty expensive, but after almost three years of ownership and many rehearsals and gigs with it, I've come to the conclusion it was a bargain, really.

Actually the Gallien Krueger MB115 is 200 watts with a single 15 and it weighs only 35 lbs.....
Are you sure you really want transparency? Every bass preamp adds coloration, some just more than others. If you truly don't want coloration, but have to have some stage volume, look into powered PA speakers to use with your foot pedal (which is already coloring your sound). It might be the sound you are looking for. It is becoming more common.

Things have changed.. You know you're old when you start a sentence (or thread) with My, my,my.... LOL
there are powered bass cabs out there that might work for you. not a lot, but they do make them. but some of those little amps are so cheap and so good that it might be worth it to get one just so you don't have to deal with your effects unit for on the fly changes.
