My New Carvin SB5000!

Nice looking bass. I've had my SB5000 since June and I'm really digging it. So much so I bought a SB4000 from their in stock page as well that should be here tomorrow.

I'm interested to see how you feel the Sadowsky and SB5000 compare after playing both for a month or so.

Congrats, I had one briefly and regret selling it. The slap sound is great, I was planning on putting Barts in it if I kept it, to even it out a little. Mine had an Alder body, a bit heavier. Carvin has really out done themselves. This bass gives Sadowsky Metro a real run for the money at less than half the price for a 19mm spaced 34" scale bass. If Carvin offered this bass with a 1 7/8" nut width I'd be back into one for sure. The more raves about this bass maybe one day when hell freezes over the prices of Metros will come down somewhat to being more competitive. If Carvin stays with this format and puts out a P5 and a 55-01 clone, the race will get even tighter.

Good idea! A direct comparison of the sound is not realistic since my Sadowsky has a different pickup configuration, 2 big soapbars placed close together. I can however comment on 2 things:

- My Sadowsky Metro, which is also ash/maple, is lighter than the Carvin.
- The Sadowsky B string seems to have the same sound characteristics as the other 4 strings. On the Carvin, the timbre of the B string sounds more P bass-like than the other strings.
