I've pretty much learned to live with it (by clicking Watched Threads often), but i just want to throw this out there in case I'm not the only one that it's happening to...

For months and months I'd be sporadically not getting notifications from threads that i had recently posted in, or was watching (the non-email type.)

I've made sure to not not click on any, since i read that if you get one but don't click on it, it will unsubscribe you ... so I've been extra diligent about it. Still, I'd see them show up in New Posts without getting notified.

To make things even weirder, there are some threads i get notified for that i haven't clicked on in a looong time (purposely missed them.)

Like i said, I've learned to live with it, and it doesn't really take away from my enjoyment here ... just wanted some honchos to know that (at least for me) it's not working 100%

If it matters at all, I'm always accessing TB on my mobile (Samsung Note5), using Chrome as my browser.

Cheers!

It's really simple...at least as far as I can tell, you only get notifications for the first new post since you last actually visited the thread. If you don't open the thread and leave it unread in your watched threads list, you won't get any more notifications. The system doesn't unsubscribe you, I guess it just assumes your not interested anymore. You can open the thread or click on "Mark Forums Read" to reset the notifications for one or all of your watched threads.

You probably know that if you so much as hover over the "Alerts" tab, it erases the red notification bubble no matter if you visit the posts or not.

Once you wrap your mind around how it works, you will find that it is quite consistent, I have never noticed any wonky or sporadic behavior.

Yes, i know how it's supposed to work. I'm saying even after i click on them to read the rest of the thread that's been posted while i was away, i often will just stop getting them. Updated 'new posts' or 'watched threads' will show up ... with no notification under my alerts.

I've been very diligent to click on each notification I'm interested in following, but they just stop coming. Conversely, there are multiple threads that i haven't clicked on in months that i recently started getting notifications for out of the blue.
