I always played bass just using the amplifier EQ or at home via focusrite and DAW with VSTs...
and i decided its time to experiment and buy some gear. I was on reddit/YT on the quest and checked QC mini and darkglass anagram..some friends also told me to buy anagram etc etc...but then i thought..we perform live maybe once a year, mostly we play just for our joy with the band...and paying 1300eur was a bit too much imho.

so after a week of new quest searching what to buy i went with Joyo..i bought the tidal wave, scylla compressor and double throust overdrive. the Joyo reviews were all really ok.
Im still waiting for the package to be delivered.

what do you think? i did a good choice?

I think it's a good choice for your needs, I would have done the same.

After using the HX Stomp for a few years, I came back to 3 simple pedals, because I prefer a direct access to simple knobs rather than diving into menus for editing.

Now, when I saw the Anagram, I thought "it's the best of both world" because the the UI is simple, but I didn't buy it because it's too expensive for my needs.

Still happy with my 3 pedals, I don't need more.

I gig in a cover band every weekend and could not justify the cost of the anagram for what we do! If I were gigging on higher paying gigs with silent stages, I may reconsider. I figured I would rather have another bass for the money! But it's a personal decision!

It seems you've understood what you wanted from a pedalboard, and that actually does a good job of covering a lot of territory on a budget. It allows for expansion or substitutions as you want in the future. What's your power supply, are you just using a chained wall wart?

I had the Anagram and I can't say anything bad about it. It just has too many options available and I can't be happy with a sound that's "good enough". Maybe if I tried a different microphone or a different cabinet it would sound better. Then my playing time becomes modeler playing time. I traded with a fellow TB'er for a Mantle. Yes, I took a hit on value but it was like the only piece of gear that I didn't already own or have tried and moved on from. So I have Tuner -> Compressor -> DI. The compressor, a FEA DE-CL has a few knobs but I don't find myself tweaking those. Overall, simpler, doesn't have synth sounds or whatever but I'm much happier.

I like the way you said this. It can be true. I have a number of pedals. I can spend a lot of time doing "research".

I have the Raptor and Nebulous pedals probably going on 6-7 years. Good, solid gear for the price. If the quality is the same for your pedals, I’d say you’ve done well.

Unless you've got lots of disposable income burning a hole in your pocket, getting cheap clone pedals like Joyo, Behringer, Sonicake etc. is a fine place to start. You'll get a better sense of what sounds you like using. Often the cheaper pedals use the exact same circuit as the more expensive originals that they're cloning, just with cheaper parts and labor. If you really fall in love with something and you want the original or a boutique option, you can probably resell the cheapo pedal without taking much of a loss.

To my way of thinking effects are supposed to be the sugar & spice on our playing as well as fun. You do you but beware effects can become that drug you can never get enough of.

IME Joyo makes a solid pedal.

It's good to get started on compressor experience even if it's a starter compressor, it will will let you craft your sound better.
I returned the double thruster whatever it was, drive sound was not pleasant for me, sounded thin... but I Love the Joyo Orange Juice, a warm overdrive with some cab sim eq like a sansamp, does subtle and works great before an envelope.

i took temporarly for now a 9v 2A daisy chain supply. I will probably buy Harley Benton spaceship power 50m (its small, what i want, and the price is also ok)
