Dave: I've never seen an L-2000 with a black control plate though. Anybody got one to show so I can compare it?

I have a L2k with the crackle finish plate under my knobs. It is an 84' .

Nah. He's a good friend of mine and really didn't mean to knock over my bass. I think both he and I have learned to be more careful now.

Ok well I got my bass back awhile ago, but have just been so busy with work to write up an update. They fixed it ok but they couldn't do anything about the cosmetic looks. Turns out the control plate won't fit at all, so I just stuck with how it looks. It's not too bad, but definitely noticeable. As long as I can turn my knob and play it then I'm happy.
