Hi guys,

My rig has finally come together, some of the parts took ages to ship :mad: But its here now...

Its a Warwick ProFet 3.2 amp with a couple of WCA 211 Pro cabs. Sounds great but it is very quiet. If i had known how quiet it would be i would have opted for the 500W version. Oh well, live and learn!

I cant decide whether the amp looks better with the sleeve on or off :hmm:

My Warwick CCL 250w 4ohm 1x15 is very quiet too, especially compared to my Markbass LMII into single 1x12 (so running at 300w into 8ohm, only 50w more). The MB seems to be so much louder with a ton of headroom. I used to have to run the CCL flat out sometimes, whereas the MB at the same venues, barely breaks a sweat.

I must also add that the Warwick didn't seem that much louder than my first amp, a Trace Elliot BLX80, which was a 1x10 at only 80w. Powerful little bugger that was.

I wondered if it was poor speaker and cab efficiency, and the new technology that MB have used in cab design makes it so much more efficient. But hearing how you think your Warwick stack seems too quiet for it's size and power makes me wonder if it's a common trait of Warwicks SS amp design. Hmmm.....

But I must also add though, that the Warwick has a great tone though. Almost a valve like warmth.

nah i'm pretty sure it is the amp that is the quiet bit. I knew these amps were quiet when i bought it but i didnt realise they were this quiet. the cabs are good cabs, i'm sure they arnt the problem.
i'm stepping up from my 'lil 20W Stagg combo, which is actually only a little bit quieter than my Warwick stack. I think its because the Stagg didnt have much bass (it had an 8" speaker) and was mostly treble, which is much easier to produce. The warwick produces a hell of a lot more bass and therefore harder to achieve high volumes. But still, at 300W i was expecting a little more. It does sound great though!

When I first got the amp it was defective. It had a really bad buzz, and you could barely hear it on full volume - not a good sign. Sent it back to get repaired and now it works ok. Like I said, I was told before i bought it that they were not that loud but I didnt not realise by how much.

Your amp has the 400watt output section. It uses 3 I believe transistors per side on the output amp. 2SC5200's and 2SA or 2SC1943's I think. Pretty much the same trannies in a GK 1001rb. Good stuff. Same transformer in all the warwick 300 to 500 watt amps. Perhaps the same one in the Extreme 10.1 100watt head too..if it supplies enough current.

I have a warwick Pro Tube IV that I use sometimes. Great tone! But I'm going to clone the tube section into a pedal for when I use my sm900.

The 210's must sound super tight. We have the 610 at work and I keep bugging my boss to let me buy it.

the amp is not defective now, but unfortunately i cannot afford the 500W version :crying:
the one i have at the moment is 300W, and i am 100% sure it doesnt use the same stuff as the GK. The ProFet amps are made in China and are real budget amps. Still have a good tone though.
I really like the cabs, they are light and easy to transport, but again i do not think they are that loud. They have a 300W handling power so if i upgraded to a louder amp, i would probably need to buy new speakers :hmm:

one solution i can think of, when the time comes to it, is to sell my current amp, and buy an amp that can support down to 2ohms, then buy another 211 cab to make a 6x10 running at 2.66ohms. Except the choices of amps are very limited, i can only think of two...

Well, something is definitely not right if your 20w Stagg is only a tad less loud. Thats definitely not right.

I would love to have a Warwick Rig, its ossibly my dream rig. Just so... awesome sounding.:bassist:
