My Thunderbird Bridge

[Fair Warning]

I have a mid 90s Gibson Thunderbird. I have always noticed that 1 of the 3 post on the bridge that attached to the body has a boss extending out of the plane of the wood about 1/4 inch. This is the low side of the bridge. I have no tuning issue. Are all Gibson bridges this way, or is my bass having a slow failure?

I have a 90's TBird but dont know what a "boss" is. As far as my bridge goes the bridge nuts are all recessed about 1/32"below the wood. You may have one working its way out.

It sounds like the stud is pulling out.
Remove the bridge and pull the stud straight out (do not twist it!!) put some wood glue on it and in the hole and install the bushing flush with the body. Let glue dry and assemble.

Sounds right to me. Or better yet get the hipshot repalcement bridge for it. Them 3point gibson bridges are only so so imo.

Ok,

I finally took the time to take the strings off. Yes, one of the threaded inserts was coming out. So I cleaned it and stuck it back in with a little dab of epoxy. I noticed that the grounding wire is down in this hole, which ties the bridge in to the ground. So one should be carefully not to cover the ground path with glue.
