A few years back, I made an impulse buy (after playing it, of course) of a used Epiphone Accu-Bass at my local used music store.
I was very impressed with how close it hit the mark of competing with a Fender™ P-Bass.
Before I actually bought it, I did some research and found out they also made a "Jazz" model. The search was on!
My G.A.S. has something to do with collecting, maybe more-so than playing, but I was confident this would be a good buy.
I had two really bad experiences on Reverb (out of two tries, so I'm "batting 1.000"). The sellers were cretins, but Reverb did step up. When I found this bass on Reverb, I almost passed. It's at the upper limit of what I think these basses are actually worth, but it is just under it.
I sent the seller a message and I mentioned that I hate email/text/written conversations and gave him my phone number.
He called me. We had a great chat, and then he posted a video of him, playing the bass (purely a tone demonstration; not an ego-filled 5 minute bass solo)! It sounds really good and the action looks great.
I am now the proud owner of a 1993 Epiphone Rock/Power Bass with upgraded tuners and electronics. It's white with a black pickguard (just like the Accu-Bass) and it has the "hockey stick" headstock, instead of the (awful IMHO) "batwing" type.
It's turning out to be a pretty good week!
