NAD! (Ampeg BA108 content)

Yep, I went ahead and grabbed a little BA108 before these mighty might original versions get replaced by the V2 series.

Poorly lit cellphone pic, but that's just going to have to be good enough. This amp has a job to do and no time for glamour shots.

BA108 looks and sounds good snuggled under the Yamaha.

My loving spouse and myself recently have been working on a little jazz duo project so okay that just cemented any other justification for a full time small living room amp.

My little BA112, while it did fit under the keyboard just fine, didn't leave room for much else. Plus the 112 gets the nod for my regular open mic/blues jams and so it travels too much for a strict living room amp. I needed something to pretty much stay put.

I admit the BA108 isn't really that much smaller than the 112, but every bit helps I guess.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said before, it sounds great, it's louder than any 8" driver "practice" combo has a right to be, has that timeless Ampeg look (can't jank up the living room you know), and most importantly I love the separate volume control for the RCA inputs- the feature that pretty much cinched the deal.

I run a laptop into it through the RCA inputs, along with keys and/or my bass with the two 1/4" inputs, and have the option of listening to it all through headphones. PERFECT!

I do follow several of the threads regarding modifying these little gems, and I wouldn't be against doing the straight up Eminence Alpha 8 replacement. But that's all future talk, the little amp sounds plenty great as is and is waaaaaaay more than enough for living room duty. Yes, it shakes the walls and rattles the widows, it may be small but it's an Ampeg through and through.

Anyway, those that know me know how much I already love my other two BA series workhorses, my BA112 and good ole' BA210.

BA210 and BA112. The BA108 isn't much smaller than the 112!

I'm sure there's a Goldilocks joke in their somewhere.

Sometime I'll do a group shot and/or a pyramid stack w/ them all together. :)

Anyway, lovin' my little Ampeg BA collection.

sweet. you're getting a real collection there. This summer when my older daughter comes I may get a digital piano (like a casio px150 or cdp120) for her to learn on and plug that through my ba108. Keys sound decent through that amp.

And I have to agree with you about waiting on ba108 upgrades. it shouldn't be necessary since you have the ba112. and we have yet to hear reviews of the 8" fane speaker compared to the eminence alpha8.

I never went through with the upgrades. Threatened to, but decided it does a good enough job on its own. I use it for the little acoustic gigs I do on upright with this old-timey jazz band.

The BA108 is quite simply the best practice amp in the world. The tone is amazing and the features are absolutely perfect. I wish every combo had volume control on the RCA inputs. And to have line out, effects send/return AND two inputs on a sub $100 practice amp is almost unbelievable. The new version isn't even out yet and I miss the old BA108 already.

Been awhile, not online as much lately but just checking in for an update.

Started playing with a new Blues/Jazz project, still working on our final lineup (looking for harp player and additional vocals) but wanted to share a recent live jam recording that I did with the little BA108 combo.

Loving the tone I get with this little thing.

(I'm using my Fender Precision volume & tone wide open, into Ampeg BA108, amp volume about 11 o'clock, tone knobs at noon, playing with guitar, keyboard, and drums, recorded live with an ipad sitting in the middle of our practice space.)
