I went down a serious money spending rabbit hole this month, but selling in some other bits I should come out on top!
I had a Darkglass Microtubes 500 V2, but the tone really wasn't doing it for me. Maybe I'll live to regret that...who knows!
So I found an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro locally and got that. I like it, although I am really, really missing the DI and cab sim that the Darkglass had built in.
At the same time, I've been looking at Barefaced cabs. There was another one not so local, at least not for us in England (120 miles away), that was going for about half the price of a new one. So off I went yesterday to pick that up to replace my Fender Rumble 210 (which has been great!). It's a Barefaced Two10.
It's been a whirlwind. Now I need to decide whether to use the YYZ or the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes for a bit of something on occasion. I also need to make sure I'm using the Source Audio Aftershock properly - I'd probably use this as a layer under one of the aforementioned preamps when I need a lot of dirt, but I keep forgetting I have it and only using it to play Hysteria!
For the DI solution, I've got an AKG Perception P2 kick drum mic on the way. We use DI for IEMs and to send out of the PA, so it has to sound nice.
On the whole, it's very compact, quite noisy rig!
