NAD Bugera 1960

I love British tube amps and have quite a few Marshall, Hiwatt, Sound City, Orange etc. I picked up this used Bugera 1960 to use at rehearsal and leave it at the rehearsal studio. So far I'm pretty impressed with it, nice glassy sustain and it really has a kick at 150w.

I take it that it’s a Marshall clone, a guitar head at that. How does it do with bass frequencies?

Just fine, plenty of low end, works great with 1x15, 2x15, 4x12, 4x10 etc. Probably not for everyone but perfect for me.

I'm late to the Bugera party lol but I've been using Marshalls for bass since '78. My '72 Marshall Major was my main amp from '83-2010 often paired with SVTs or Hiwatt. I still have it of course.

It's probably 150 watts at 8 ohms
Most amps today boast their wattage at 4 ohms. That may be comparable to a 300 watt amp of today. Good find!

What is true for solid state amps is often not true for tube amps regarding impedance and wattage.

I’d love to hear that combo! I had the pleasure of using a major head with matching 810 rig as a backline while on tour in Germany. It absolutely floored me how good it sounded. I suspect that few TB denizens have played a major but more would react if they had.

kinda like my friend letting me drive his built GTO. You just can’t really relay how viscerally powerful it is and how a little bubble of pure chaos opens up around you.

I probably bought my first SVT after that tour, as a young tone junky my horizon had just opened WAY up.
