Well, I don't know if Adam Clayton is exaggerating when he says "it will change your life", but I took the plunge when I saw it on special and finally achieved my dream of tubey goodness!

I told my wife it was a Christmas present, and she got a new capo so it's worked out well. Apart from a minor hiccup with a blown fuse (an under-rated one had been installed) I haven't stopped smiling :)

This amp is perfect for me , can jam at home but it's still loud enought for drums. It's quite loud actually. The tones on the two channels are spot on for the music we like: a mid-forward channel for those trad R&B / blues / classic rock sounds, and a flat channel which sounds more modern (with treble and bass boosts).

I was intrigued by this amp and have always wanted to try one but the price tag was not appealing and I never saw them locally. I went to the local music store to pick up a repair and there was one sitting in the used section that was super clean. It was listed for $1199. The shop is reputable and he told me the guy who brought it in had it for home use only. I plugged it in and was amazed at the quality of sound and volume. I was able to work out a good trade on some gear I had that was just sitting unused. I see them used in this same price range but I would never have it shipped since it is a big box and on the heavy side with the tubes..so it’s a shipping recipe for trouble.

They do seem to pop up at reasonable prices. Going to have to try one eventually!

It's rare for me to be interested in a Fender bass amp or even any brand tube amp, and well, I am. I bought the Rumble 500 (350 Watts) five years ago. It's been great. I also haven't looked at any bass amp or even any online shopping/GAS-ing since. I have no reason to get another bass amp, but I'm interested enough in this to seek it out in real time, and give it a real chance on a vintage vibe/vintage tube sound premise... Even if I'm currently not in any band situation where this would unquestionably work in terms of wattage and sound characteristics. A $2,000 estimated "basement amp" is probably where it will be for the forseeable future, but it seems like a very interesting Fender bass amp product, and I'm at least curious.

Yep price and shipping... They had one only in town here (probably only one in NZ) and it was on special so I took that as a sign. There comes a time when you need to do the right thing....
