NAD: The return of the TT800

I sold my original one back in 2022 because I wasn't thinking long range and always kind of missed it's simplicity and yet, versatility.

Yes, a contradiction but this amp has a certain splenditude that always got my motor running. I pulled the hammer on another Mesa TT800 a couple of days ago after selling my back up amp.

Been playing it in the office and all the memories came back. It gets to show off this Friday at the gig.

Don't think I'll willingly let go of either my TT-800 or WD-800. The WD was to be my last/best head, then the TT was released, and now gets played most often.

On the Boogie channel I favor Sym/Asym past noon, or on Subway, dialed before noon.

A great head that kicked all the tubes off my pedal board.

It's funny because I was playing the D800+ for a while and got the TT when it came out. I didn't bond with it and returned it and stuck with the D800+. Then around the start of this year, I picked up a TT again and it's been my main gigging head all year so far!

Splenditude? I Love it. I feel the same way about the TT 800.

Tastes change, tastes evolve along with needs. What's ideal last year might not be ideal tomorrow. The same applies to basses, and also to music.

Mesa makes good stuff. The designer of their bass gear is a pretty sharp guy, too
I remain super happy with my WD-800.

I just did something similar. I had a Mesa WD800 and sold it a little over a year ago. I bought a Bergantino Forte D. I love the Berg but I miss a lot of what the WD800 offered, so traded with another member. Should be hear today.

The 800+ is an incredible head IMO but it's very different from the TT, especially the Boogie channel. IME it takes a bit of time to get the feel of what it can do, and then it becomes addicting!

Dang, is that what they're selling for these days? When I got mine a few years ago I think it was like $1200 or so new at L&M. Obviously that is pre-tariffs but was still during covid when prices and inflation had already gone up a lot.

The cost here in the US also increased.

don't know if tariff pricing has kicked in yet, so hard to tell...

I also have the D800+. Have heard others say that they did not "bond" with the TT. After trying again at a later date, they then find the appeal. Is it a lack of understanding how the pre section works or the overall function. I am eager to try one in anticipation of it adding something especially different from my D800+.
