Yea. Watching any behind the scenes or interviews with him, he goes into detail about how messed up he got in some of those situations. According to an interview I saw him give on Craig Ferguson's show one time, he got a parasitic infection in his mouth that basically turned his mouth into a mess of sores and what not from something he ate in the amazon. The show where he's in the a Kalahari he also says that he came very close to heat stroke his first night out there as well.

Survivorman really is a quality show in my mind.

yeah there are a few episodes in which it looks like you may end up watching his last will and testament, he gets legitimately worried in some.

Slight bubble burst for those who haven't watched the 'behind the scenes': Stroud and his crew were never beyond rescue distance from each other and they maintained regular contact via satellite phone, as conditions allowed (as noted above, things often went awry). However, they never actually knew precisely where each other were, which, to me, is pants-ruinously scary. Stroud is bad***.
