That's a lot of B's, I know, but I promise no BS. It's New Box Bass Build Day! I planned to build this over a year ago, I think, but I just recently had the time to get it started and finished.

Over the course of two weeks I put the box bass together. Building materials include:

Squier Affinity neck, defretted, and tuners (one having the paddle held on with hot glue)
4 mismatched neck screws and ferrules
A spruce bed slat for the internal neck support
Square wooden dowels from Walmart for the carved bridge, string anchor inside the body, and nut
Pickup from a Squier Bronco, cover removed
Riunite Gift set box (I don't drink, I just saw the box at a garage sale and realized it was the perfect size for a bass)
Recycle D'addario Nickel XL's tuned to C# because I don't want the whole thing to implode

Tools used:

The saw and knives on my Leatherman
A chisel
Screwdrivers
Hand crank drill and bits
Sandpaper
Coping saw
Pencil
Sharpie
Tapered reamer

I've yet to install the electronics, but the volume knob will be located on the upper bout, akin to the pickup selector on a Les Paul, and the tone knob will be inside the box.

I'm thinking of carving out an F-hole, too. Surprisingly, it is rather loud unplugged.

Not really like an upright, but I also haven't gotten the electronics installed yet.
