Yamaha has been one of the most friendly instrument companies for me. I played Yamaha piano and guitar, and even my first bass was Yamaha (I don't remember its exact model name). Since my first Yamaha bass was not that high quality, I only used it in 2016 IIRC.
After that, my main instrument was Modulus Quantum, equipped with EMG CS/DC. Its live sound was amazing but when recording, it was always hard for me to find the best tone for the tune. Once it was DC/DC, it was too bright and too scooped so I changed the neck to CS for some mid and warmth.
Anyway, to get some mid-range tone with clarity, I returned to my old friend, Yamaha. JP signature was quite expensive and big for me, so I chose the TRB 1006J model. At first, I thought it was closer to a red color, but after I got it, I found it was closer to an orange-ish color.
So, for its playability, I can say it is the best one to easily play with. Some people say it is heavy but for me, it is maybe a little bit lighter than Modulus. It is harder to approach to highest frets but it is possible to play freely in the area. Its neck is round, a different style from Modulus which is more flat. Knobs might look cheap but I don't mind about them.
Soundwise, it is much more versatile compared to Modulus. It might lack power and super lows with highs compared to Modulus but when recording, too many lows and highs were not that important to me and my band. Rather, it produces organic and modern sound so it can make sound more natural. When using bridge pickup, Yamaha can also make enough metallic sounds while not interrupting other instruments' range.
Until now, I think I will use Yamaha as my main instrument. More impressive than I expected. Maybe my future instruments might be Yamahas.
Anyway, is there anyone who knows this instrument's eq frequencies? I couldn't find its eq frequencies from Yamaha site.
