Never open Reverb before bed, dangerous things happen. Do I NEED another jazz bass? Of course not. Do I WANT a 60s sunburst with flats vibe in the arsenal? Of course. This brand new beauty hit the top of my feed with a big discount and well… here we are.

I don't know what mysticism Fender is using on their basses, but this beast only weighs 8.8 pounds. Sounds killer, plays killer, guess I need to find more basses to sell so my partner doesn't murder me in my sleep. You know, the usual TB circle of life…

Same could be said for Talkbass. My last bass purchase, June 2023, was a 2006 - 2008 CIJ GL Sig Jazz bass that someone posted about here on TB.

I wasn't looking for a bass.
I didn't need another bass.

But I told the owner if he wanted to sell it I'd buy it. For me it was kind of a holy grail bass. A CIJ Fender and a Geddy Lee, which let me cover two things I've wanted and I did it in one bass purchase. He took me up on it. And it's been the only bass out of my 5 electrics that I have gigged over the last 3 months.

I would prefer to die while asleep, and owning a sweet J like that.

Thanks y'all! I'm just over here impatiently waiting for a delivery of LaBella flats… :roflmao:

Fender factory setups have been hit or miss for me (I once spent an embarrassing amount of time troubleshooting an anemic-sounding JMJ Mustang that had drop shipped directly from Fender, only to realize the output jack wires were reversed). This one arrived feeling and measuring right on the dot.

Re: the neck, I'm still in the initial reaction phase but I dig it. My primary gigging bass for many years was a 72 jazz, so the binding and U shape characteristics feel like home. It really does strike me as a transitional neck profile from slim 60s to that 70s thing.

Silly question, I see they give you the bridge and pick up covers.

Do they give you the plot to drill the holes for the bridge cover?

I see it's not predrilled.

Thanks!
:)
