NBD: Bord-wal-ish - Bordwell built with Wal inspired electronics

Cliff always does such great work. I was going for a Wal fretless sound for mine... didn't go the route you did becuase of funds, but the BigBladeMans and the Nordy JC pre got me at least a little close. How Wal-ish does it sound?

I don’t know yet. I’m flying to DC today for a job interview, and my home practice rig is my home studio, and I just started upgrading the computer, so it’s down. I’ll be up and running when I get back this weekend.

I’m not looking to be full on Wal, but ballpark will be nice. BSSM was a formative album for me. I’d love to get some of those tones.

I would ask what all those knobs do but I will be retiring soon so...

I can tell you anyway:

1 knob for each pickup is a 4 way selector to pick which single coils or parallel/series humbucking

2 stacked knobs, one for each pickup for filter frequency and resonance boost

Volume - pull for “pick attack” hpf
Blend

1 stacked set of knobs for bass frequency/bass boost/cut.

It looks like a lot. 10 knobs total, but should be pretty easy to get the hang of I’m hoping.

I can't stop looking at the neck, it's gorgeous, but also feels like an optical illusion, like the neck isn't straight... It's really amazing. Congrats on your new instrument, I hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks!

It plays like a dream. I actually have a few minutes right now before leaving for my flight to try it with my Tonex. Gonna see how it sounds right now!

Turner pickups with a filter pre are the real deal.

I got 20 mins in with the Tonex using amalgams Marshall bass capture and some headphones. I have no idea how to get some of the tones I’m looking for yet, but I found many great ones. This thing sounds amazing.

The pickups are selectable a parallel/series humbuckers or p/reverse p. Each pickup independent. The filters work great. The pick attack works great. The bass control works great. Can’t wait to get back from this trip and log some time.

The helborg strings feel and sound great. Best low e of all my basses. I’m thinking of getting another set to string BEAD.

Blending the neck on series and the bridge on reverse p, with the treble rolled off the neck and peaking some high kids on the bridge sounds so great.

Ok, so this is the Underhill Cali Dub with the additional pickup switching rotary knobs. Must be tons of tone shaping available there.
