NBD: Creamsicle Mike Lull Heirloom M5V

This arrived today. It's a one-off Mike Lull M5V Heirloom 5-string. I've been playing it for hours. I just can't get enough.

I honestly thought I was done with new basses for this year. But I just couldn't say no. I love, love, love Mike Lull basses. And I totally dig an orange bass. This particular shade really caught my eye (Spencer Lull named it 'Dreamsicle'). Check out that flamed maple... it's mesmerizing. The neck is smooth with a nice, thin profile. And the 2-band preamp with passive tone control can pretty much do it all. Here's some specs and photos.

Creamsicle is one of my grail colors. I like it better than Capri Orange.

I have to mix my own nitro to get close to the color and I haven't really nailed it yet. I need to order a bit more colorant to get there.

I don't know if it's sold in rattle cans, but I'm much more comfortable mixing my own in small batches and spraying it with a touch up gun.

I don't know if it's just the color rendition on my monitor, but in the photos, the color value of the body looks a bit greenish, which would make sense if the overhead lighting was fluorescent or had a color temp that was not forgiving.

A mint green guard would be the perfect extra touch.

I don't plan on selling any of the Elricks. They're just super playable. But this one is really special. It's like a jazz bass on big steroids. It's super punchy. The neck is smooth and the action is great. I intend to hold onto all of them (& hopefully not buy anything else this year... lol).

Of course, this bass has me gassing pretty hard, so you never know.
