NBD! Custom built 5 string!

I've been waiting 6 months for this thing, and it cost a goddam grip of cash.

Made by Chuck Lee, who is a very well known builder in Texas.

It's a 5 string.

And it's a banjo. Which is my primary instrument.

Cherry wood neck, with antique cherry finish, and flamed maple pot with black finish (the round part). and custom inlay, of my choosing, of paua abalone.

These pics are from a photographer that visited him to write an article about him. So, it may up in the magazine "Garden and Gun" (which sounds very redneck).

it is really pretty.
my great uncle is the banjo player in the family.
he even built most of what he owns.
maybe ill pick one up one day.

Its a fun instrument.

I don't play any bluegrass, so my Foggy Mountain Breakdown would be a Foggy Mountain "Fakedown" as they call it.

I play the old time clawhammer style of playing.

Yup.

It's a "drone" string. You don't really fret it. Your thumb plucks it as a constant tone.
