So after much anticipation, I received my D. Lakin JO in Ice Blue Metallic #005 (sorry for the crappy cell phone pic)
I know that there are other posts about issues, and I had some concerns, but here is my quick review:
Packaging
I have not had a chance to play through my main rig (Berg CN212 or Berg AE210 and a TH 500 or GB Streamliner) but plugged it through an Acoustic practice amp. The Pups sounded great, nice growl, no hum. No issues with the PoTs, just need to reset the knobs to reflect the proper position (no big deal)
As stated earlier, the neck felt different, not in a bad way, just smaller, but once playing a bit, I really liked it. Rounded edges and good frets. No fret buzz, good intonation, lively strings. Reverse tuners worked well, just need to get used to them, and I liked the headstock. I also like the fact that it came with straplocks which I use on all my basses.
Summary
I will be away for a bit so I won't be able to use it with the main rig or in a band setting. However, I must say that I had some concerns after previous posts, but I am happy to say that this is a nice playing, well built and good looking bass.
I own /have owned US Laklands and Skylines, Fenders, Sadowsky etc, and unless I have concerns in a band setting with the instrument's performance, it will be a keeper since it feels and sounds like a quality bass.
Dan also has said if there are any concerns or dislikes, return it no questions asked within 30 days, so that shows that he has confidence in his product.
I am glad Dan recognized some of the initial issues and hopefully the TB community will cut Dan some slack and give his stuff a try.

Packaging
- The inner and outer box were perfectly intact, no damage
- The bass was wrapped in styro protective film
- No issues with the finish, nice and consistent
- Frets were nicely dressed
- Out of the box the neck profile seemed narrower than I an used to (for a Jazz)
- Neck pocket had no gaps, nicely fitted
- Bass felt realtively light (have not weighed it yet, but I asked Dan for a light one)
