After vacillating between every school of thought for my first "nice, in my eyes" bass. I knew I wanted a classic passive p bass, kind of an opposite sound of my modded Sterling SUB. I was immediately gravitating towards an American Fender, just because. I wasn't to worried about price, but I also know that gear doesn't equal skill. I'm just a 60 year young non-musical hack, started three years ago, and never "played" in front of anybody but my wife. My biggest fan btw. However, I absolutely love trying. Totally in love with all things bass. No particular bass filled every desire I could come up with. So finally I decided to get a bread and butter solid bass that is much more awesome than I'll ever be. I reached out and got this brand new for an awesome price (not sure if I'm allowed to post the price) from my Sweetwater rep, Troy Davis. He is awesome. This morning I changed the strings to LaBellas (thanks to the TB community! ), I chose string through, I know lots of opinions out there. I installed strap locks, and did a basic setup. What a joy/pain to remove the pickguard plastic, lol. This thing is absolutely beautiful and inspires me to practice more. I feel, this will definitely take me to one of many next levels. Unfortunately I didn't get alot of play time this morning, but the initial impression is AMAZING! It came from Sweetwater with what I consider to be a very low action. I'm going to leave it low and try and adapt and maybe learn a softer touch....I want to formally thank the TB community for a great resource to learn from.
