Yeah, I know a another Fender, but I'm still riding the high of a new bass, first one in a few years for me. Was in the process of buying a house and big music purchases were on the back burner for a while. Local mom and pop shop has an great sale twice a year and I got great deal, brand-new for $1395 plus tax. I gave it a quick setup and am really liking it so far. Only complain is the Fender strings are so rough compared to the ghs/DR's that I usually play. So far I like the stock pickups...I'm usually the guy that immediately puts in hum-cancelling pickups but I'm somehow not getting any single coil hum out of these that I can hear.

After playing it for the past day here's some thoughts:

I wasn't sure that' I'd like the finish on the back of the neck. It is satin finished and all my previous Fender's had the glossier finish. It plays well. The frets/board are rolled well on the edges.

This version of their high mass bridge is better in one way...that if you choose to not string through the body, there is enough room for the ball end of the string to rotate freely.

I've always been quick to dump single coils for something hum-cancelling but these are pretty quiet and they sound pretty good. They are not very high output but have a wide frequency response.

Fit and finish is good. Overall I'm happy and would buy again. As posted above I got a great deal from our local shop. Next sale I might add an American Pro ii Precision to the collection.
