Hi all. So, after everyone here was so thoughtful in helping me think about the pros/cons of a Fender Elite Jazz, an Ultra Jazz, and a Stingray, I was on the very verge of a going for a black Stingray Special. Then my head was turned by this bass instead.

Logic went out of the window. Not an active preamp in sight, but I'm lucky that this bass plays really well. Next stop is to put some flats on this thing (and remove the metal covers, as is the law).

Very early days with this bass - it only arrived today. But after a few hours of playing around with it, I already find the concentric controls a lot more intuitive.

As for the rest of the instrument, it’s beautifully put together. The pickups are solid (with some growl), and the neck is really something.

I think I got lucky with this one, given I had it shipped to me from the other side of the country.
