NBD! Fender MIJ Midnight Precision

It actually arrived on Dec 4. I've been playing a lot of Duck Dunn style bass lines with a classic R&B style horn band. I've been wanting a Precision with a rosewood board. I have a 74, with maple, and Jazz Bass neck dimensions. I bought it new. But, it doesn't really feel the same.

My main player is my 2003 Aerodyne Jazz I bought new. I love it, so when I saw a Japanese basswood Precision, I wanted one. Sweetwater was sold out, but I got the last one Elderly had.

It's very high quality, light weight, and sounds great. I got a black Tolex case for it.

The actions feels a little high, and there seems to be more neck relief than my Aeorodyne. I'd like to tweak the truss rod just a tad. But, it sure looks hard to get to. I might take to the authorized Fender guy in town.

Thanks! If you want a nice Precision, I don't think you can beat it. Japanese Fenders are really nice. I don't know how they can charge twice as much for an American one. The gold hardware is pretty flashy, but I'm getting used to it. It will look nice with all the brass in the band!

I bought one of these basses as well. Fit and finish were second to none, other than the cheesy headstock decal. I like the U-shape neck enormously (I prefer a chunky neck) though the 7.25" board radius was more of an adjustment than I expected (my Rickenbacker has a 12" board). The tone is amazing once you change out the Fender strings (I went with D'Addario nickel wound lights). I've heard some criticisms of Japanese pickups, but these are great. For slightly more than a MIM Player Series, I got a bass that hold its own when compared to an American Precision. And it's pretty easy on the eyes to boot.
