If my experience on the AP Precision is any indication, you`re gonna have a LOT of fun on your new J!
I rarely would tell anyone to not buy a bass if economically feasible, but I believe you`re new J will do about anything a GL Jazz would do. The bridge is about the only difference, and I don`t know that you`ll really be able to tell.

No, you will see inexpensive ones you want, then expensive ones, different style, (P bass, jazz, music man, double humbucker, passive, active,) neighbor selling one, then you start saving up your gig tip money for another (that is what I am doing! I want a G&L Kiloton!)

You need to know I’m not the kind of guy tweaking the sound and when I use a jazz bass, all the knobs are turned all the way up.

I just bought a Pro II and, for me, it comes alive with the neck and tone rolled off 20%. I use it with an EBS Microbass 3 for some EQ magic. It is rich and warm. Just needs a little teasing out.

Call me crazy but in fact, on top of owning 3 precision basses, I also have 2 jazz basses.
One has some Dunlop Marcus Miller super bright stainless steel rounds and the other one has some TI flats.
The first one is zingy, screaming and burping a lot while the other is mellow and plays like butter, a kind of a velvet sound.
I prefer that rather than tweaking the EQ or the knobs on the bass.

Ten days in and I think she's the one. Played a Custom Shop Jaco to compare and was severely underwhelmed. Can't believe just how much I'm connecting with this piece that I purchased sight unseen.

From what I hear, you really don’t need a Geddy Lee signature bass, you already have the tone !
The mids will cut in the mix for sure and you’ll be able to play fast with a very good separation between notes.
You obviously have the right setup, congrats !
