NBD - Fender

Bought this at an estate sale today. The grandson says it is a 1990 semi hollow body fretless P-Bass. It came in fiberglass hard shell 4 latch case with fender embossed in the top. It has a very strange (to me) fretless sound, almost like an upright with sustain.

I think it's called a PBAC-100. They were made in Japan back in the early 90's.

Looking on eBay and Reverb, they're pricey. A blonde one is going for $1750, and some other variants go around $1200-1400.

I saw one of these for sale a while back (maybe here, maybe on Reverb), and I remember being interested, but not sure I wanted to spend that much money on an acoustic/electric fretless. But they really are beautiful, unique basses. The blonde ones and the dark sunbursts (like yours) are the prettiest ones (IMO).
